Not sure how correct this data is. I just came back from Russia where i used internet while staying at my friends house. It seemed pretty fast to me(coming from my own Comcast 20mb/sec plan) so i decided to check the speed. It topped of at 995MB/sec. After the initial shock i asked my friend what he uses for internet provider. He said SibirTelecom and his plan is 1GB/sec-fiber optics, unlimited, and all his neighbours use the same plan. Just my 2c

Actually, much of this will directly benefit Asheville. ERC Broadband is a partner to MCNC and will receive fiber on this build (from Round 1). As goes Round 2, ERC Broadband is a subrecipient to MCNC and will build roughly 105 miles of additional fiber in the region including approx 25 miles of fiber in Buncombe County.
ERC Broadband continues its efforts to driectly support and grow the western North Carolina technology community!

It is terrific though to see any concerted effort to expand Broadband in the area, even if it is outside of Asheville. You would think that rural area improvements will indirectly help us here in Aville at some point.

I would also include the contact info for Senator Martin Nesbitt, Representative Susan Fisher, and Candidate Patsy Keever because they, as asheville’s reps, are definitely in a position to support us.
